OC Fair 2026: Your Complete Guide to Dates, Food, Entertainment & Insider Tips

Every summer, hundreds of thousands of people make their way to the Orange County Fair in Costa Mesa for live music, carnival rides, outrageous food creations, exhibits, shopping, and one of Southern California’s most iconic summer traditions.

Whether you’ve been attending for years or you’re planning your first visit, a little preparation can make a huge difference. From the best days to visit and what to eat to nearby attractions worth checking out, here’s what you should know before heading to the 2026 OC Fair.

When Is the OC Fair in 2026?

The 2026 OC Fair runs from July 17 through August 16 at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa. This year’s theme is “Your Adventure Awaits!” (OC Fair & Event Center – Costa Mesa, CA)

The fair is open:

  • Wednesday, Thursday & Sunday: 11 AM – 11 PM
  • Friday & Saturday: 11 AM – Midnight
  • Closed Mondays and Tuesdays (OC Fair & Event Center – Costa Mesa, CA)

The Best Days to Go

Locals know one thing:

Not all fair days are created equal.

Best for Smaller Crowds

Wednesday and Thursday afternoons are usually the easiest days to explore exhibits, grab food, and enjoy rides without the largest crowds.

Best for Energy & Entertainment

Friday and Saturday nights bring the biggest crowds, but also the most excitement. If you enjoy live music, nightlife, and the full fair atmosphere, these are often the most memorable nights to attend.

Best for Families

Sunday afternoons tend to offer a nice balance between activity and manageable crowds.

Come Hungry

Let’s be honest.

The food is one of the biggest reasons people attend the fair.

You’ll find:

  • Giant turkey legs
  • Funnel cakes
  • Fried Oreos
  • BBQ
  • Fresh lemonade
  • Creative limited-time fair foods

Part of the fun is trying something you probably wouldn’t eat anywhere else.

My recommendation:

Don’t fill up at the first booth you see. Walk the fairgrounds first, then decide what looks worth the calories.

Don’t Skip the Exhibits

Most visitors spend their time focused on rides and food, but some of the best parts of the fair are inside the exhibit halls.

You’ll find:

  • Art displays
  • Photography exhibits
  • Local competitions
  • Agricultural exhibits
  • Livestock displays
  • Community showcases

The OC Fair started as an agricultural fair more than a century ago, and those roots are still a big part of what makes the event unique today.

Live Music Is a Huge Part of the Experience

Many visitors don’t realize how strong the entertainment lineup is each year.

The fairgrounds feature:

  • Pacific Amphitheatre concerts
  • The Hangar live performances
  • Action Sports Arena events
  • Daily entertainment throughout the fairgrounds (OC Fair & Event Center – Costa Mesa, CA)

If you’re planning to attend a concert, check the entertainment schedule early because popular shows often sell out.

Nearby Places Worth Visiting Before or After the Fair

One of the best things about the OC Fair is its location.

You’re only minutes away from some of Orange County’s most popular destinations.

The CAMP

Known for its outdoor atmosphere, local businesses, food, and shopping.

The LAB Anti-Mall

One of Orange County’s most unique retail and dining destinations with independent shops and restaurants.

South Coast Plaza

For anyone looking to continue the day with shopping, South Coast Plaza remains one of the premier shopping destinations in California.

Newport Beach

Only a short drive away if you want to turn your fair visit into a full Orange County day.

A Quick Note About Cannabis

Many visitors coming from outside Orange County are surprised to learn that cannabis laws still apply at public events.

While cannabis is legal for adults 21+ in California, public consumption is not permitted at the OC Fair.

If you’re planning your day, it’s always best to familiarize yourself with local laws and make arrangements before arriving.

Make the Most of Your Summer in Orange County

The OC Fair has become one of Orange County’s signature summer events for a reason.

Whether you’re there for the food, rides, concerts, exhibits, or simply the nostalgia, it offers a little bit of everything that makes summer in Southern California special.

And if you’re already making a day of it, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, and Santa Ana offer plenty of additional stops worth exploring before or after your visit. If you’re stopping in Santa Ana, visit us at Tropicanna!

July and August only come around once a year. You might as well make the most of them.
